Ivan Jones:

A series of photographic portraits showcasing the role of leading European female architectural designers and collaborators begins its national tour at Jerwood Gallery in the New Year.
The setting for the launch is particularly fitting, since amongst the subjects is the Jerwood's own architect, Hana Loftus of HAT Projects, whose portrait is set within the gallery’s courtyard.
Ivan Jones has worked in collaboration with Architect and writer Ruth lang to create the series which pictures women who have taken on pivotal roles in architectural design, but whose faces are not as familiar as their work. Each is portrayed at the heart of a key building of which they have contributed to the creation, their personalities juxtaposed with the public face of the work they produce.
Architects: Portraits by Ivan Jones will be exhibited in and around Jerwood Gallery’s bright, airy café as part of its ongoing series of photography displays.
The tour has been co-ordinated to commemorate the centenary of female suffrage in the UK in 2018.
