This exhibition offers an in depth look at the Jerwood Collection of 20th and 21st century British art, exploring the history and personal stories of the collection’s development.
The Jerwood Collection comprises figurative and abstract British painting, drawing and printing from between the First World War and the 1960s. Highlights include pieces by artists such as Sir Stanley Spencer, Laurence Stephen Lowry, Walter Sickert and Augustus John. The collection also has a growing number of contemporary works reflecting Jerwood's commitment to supporting excellence in contemporary art, including pieces by winners of the Jerwood Painting Prize.
The exhibition is the most extensive collection display to this date and includes works previously unseen at the gallery.
