Jerwood Gallery

The Jerwood Gallery is delighted to support the Sussex Coast College Art Prize. All artists resident in Sussex, aged 16 and over, are invited to submit a proposal to exhibit new work in the Circle Gallery at Sussex Coast College in Hastings.  The winning artist will be awarded £3,000 to fund a solo exhibition, including the production costs of work.

The Sussex Coast College Art Prize is open to artists working in all media including 2 and 3 dimensional work, video and installation.  The artists’ proposals should be a response to the Circle Gallery.  The floor plan and images of the Circle Gallery are available to download here.  A video of the space can also be viewed here. Two ‘open’ mornings will also be available for artists to visit the Circle Gallery on Wednesday 31 March, 10am – 4pm and Friday 9 April, 10am – 4pm.  Booking is not necessary.

Artists are required to complete the entry form online at www.parkerharris.co.uk and submit a current CV, up to 6 images of previous or new artwork and a detailed proposal (300 words max.) for a 4 week solo exhibition in the Circle Gallery in October – November 2010.  Artists who are unable to enter online may either submit by post or in person.

A submission fee of £10 per artist will be charged to all artists not attending full-time education.  Artists may only submit one proposal.

A short list of between 5 and 10 artists will be selected by a panel to display their proposals and supporting artwork in the Circle Gallery in July 2010, during which time the winning artist will be announced.

The winning artist will be awarded £3000 to fund a solo exhibition in the Circle Gallery in October – November 2010.  This will coincide with the official opening of Sussex Coast College.
