PAULA REGO: THE BOY WHO LOVED THE SEA AND OTHER STORIES

next previous

Paula Rego is one of the greatest figurative artists working today. Best known as a painter of people and a teller of stories, Rego takes inspiration from literature, Portuguese fairy tales, British nursery rhymes, myths, religious stories, personal experience and family history to create utterly unique works.  We are delighted to be holding her first major UK public gallery exhibition in ten years at Jerwood Gallery, Hastings.

This short film offers an insight to the works exhibited in Paula Rego: The Boy Who Love the Sea and Other Stories at Jerwood Gallery by Guest Curator Colin Wiggins.  As Special Projects Curator at The National Gallery, Wiggins has had a close working relationship with Rego for many years and is able to offer a unique insight into both her life and works.

This exhibition has been made possible by the generous support of Marlborough Fine Art, and Art Fund’s crowdfunding campaign: Art Happens.
