JERWOOD COLLECTION: A PERSONAL REFLECTION

Alan Grieve, Chairman of the Jerwood Foundation, speaks about the development of the Jerwood Collection, why Hastings was chosen as the location of the gallery and his personal favourite works.

2014 marks 21 years since the collection begain with Sir Frank Brangwyn's painting 'From my Window at Ditchling'. Since then the collection has grown to include almost 250 works of 20th and 21st century British art and includes pieces by some of the great British artists of the previous century as well as a growing collection of contemporary works. 

The collection continutes to develop with regular new aquisitions and has recently obtained works by John Minton, John Piper, John Tunnard and Alexannder Mackenzie, which will be on diisplay in gallery room 6 from 12 November 2014.
