Ben Nicholson and Winifred Nicholson: Art and Life
RRP: £35.00 (10% off for Jerwood Gallery Members)

Written by Jovan Nicholson (one of Ben and Winifred Nicholson’s grandsons) Sebastiano Barassi (Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, The Henry Moore Foundation) and Julian Stair (potter and writer) this book is a unique examination of the artistic partnership of Ben Nicholson and Winifred Nicholson, and their collaborative relationships with their friends, Christopher Wood, Alfred Wallis and William Staite Murray.

The Nicholson’s were greatly inspired by each other and often painted the same subject, one as a colourist the other more interested in form. New research based on previously unpublished letters, photographs and other materials draw out their fascinating connections to make up this wonderful publication.

Over 120 full colour illustrations, many of which are also previously unpublished, are complimented by quotations from the artists’ correspondence and own writings and comments from their critics.

There is currently an opportunity to see a wonderful work by Winifred Nicholson entitled, Amy, 1928 in our exhibition, Jerwood Collection: Revealed and a selection of works by Alfred Wallis, generously loaned by Kettle's Yard, University of Cambridge.
